- Script Insertion Systems (inserting pos data in video)
Script insertion is used to ascertain sales concerns after the fact. POS data is inserted into video so that a search of a product item from the register will bring up the related video when the cash register was used. These systems focus on the area of the cash register, they do not track sales transactions before being registered. - POS Sales Data Analysis
Analysis of POS data results in closer tracking and highlighting of anomalies such as frequency and time of comps, voids, check adjustments etc. The reports are helpful in understanding areas of concern and drilling down to potential employee issues, however the anomalies reported back may not be relevant (as no infraction took place) and will constitute poor time investment for the operator having to review this reporting. Furthermore, this solution is equally ineffective as only data that has been registered can be analyzed, the actual sales transactions that are not registered are excluded. (product that is being served and not rung up). - Inventory Counting Services
Frequent inventory comparisons to POS whether done my employees or outsourced services do not give management more information than they have by comparing purchasing to POS over a few months. These services, scales, applications, and scanners serve to support the inventory status but do not assist in reducing the loss problems. - Guns and Tethered Rings
Because these systems control the point of sale they have a negative customer impact and therefore are rarely used in casual or fine dining. They are efficient for delivering quick service and allowing for the inventory to remain in a remote location. The class and type product controlled by such systems is limited. - Wireless Pour Spouts, Bottle Rings
These systems can be gamed, the hardware is easily lost and vandalized, batteries are required. Hassle, training and attention is required to manage databases and hardware. The systems are limited to wine and liquor bottles. The reports are often inaccurate and require training and time to work with. - Tap Beer Systems
Such systems serve only to monitor tap beer.
